It seems Duncan James' debut performance in West End musical Chicago has put the final nail in the coffin of his boy band career.
Gone was the spiky haired lad who made his name with pop group Blue; on stage James sported a Brylcreemed do and shiny shoes, fully getting into the character of slimy celebrity lawyer Billy Flynn.
He was cheered on at the Cambridge Theatre in London by famous friends including socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, TV's Allan Carr and Celebrity Big Brother's Cleo Rocos.
James is the latest in a string of celebrities to tread the boards of Chicago. Jennifer Ellison, Ashleigh Simpson and Marti Pellow have appeared in the London production of the musical.
Critics said James appeared confident and assured on stage, performing alongside dancing girls decked in ostrich feathers in true razzle-dazzle style.
However the singer stuck to what he knew best - his performance centred more on voice than fancy footwork.
The musical Chicago tells the story of murderous showgirls Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly and their bid for stardom. It reached the big screen in 2002, starring Richard Gere in the role of Billy Flynn.
