I turned to food for comfort when Blue split up, admits sing

FORMER Blue singer Lee Ryan admits he turned to food for comfort after the boy band split up.
He’s now back in shape after piling on the pounds and is ready to rock again.
But Lee revealed he had a torrid time after Blue called it a day in 2005, putting on the beef as he struggled to cope.
It’s back under control now and he proved it to The Razz as we
caught up with him over a hot dog at Glasgow’s Showcase Cinema
yesterday.
He said: “I went through a fat stage. It’s what everyone goes
through. It’s called the skinny pop star stage, the fat pop star stage
and back to skinny pop star again.
“I put on a bit of weight and I needed to go away and sort of let
myself go and relax and not think about being in the public eye.
“I went to Los Angeles for a year-and-a-half but now I’m going to the gym again and keeping in better shape.”
Lee has a lot of sympathy for boy band veteran Gary Barlow, who suffered jibes about his weight after Take That split.
He said: “I love Gary. He’s got talent and I’m really happy for him
to be where he is now. He was the underdog and I worked with him when
he wrote songs and I was in Blue.
“His self-confidence went down and it’s lovely to see him back up there.”
Lee, who admits the pressure also got to him, believes he can follow Gary’s path back to the top.
But he insists Blue’s reunion will be different because their fans are younger.
Lee said: “We don’t want to do the big band thing like Take That.
They were away for longer than us but we’re younger and want a funky,
club sound.”
He is now working on solo album Confessions and single Secret Love, ahead of the planned Blue comeback.
But before that, he’s landed a role in gangster flick Heavy,
starring Gary Stretch, Christopher Lee and Vinnie Jones. Now he just
needs to keep an eye on what he eats.
“It’s a case of laying off the hot dogs,” he laughed.
