Blue singer Lee Ryan has issued a simple warning to young Britons hoping to crack America – Hollywood is a heap of ‘bulls***’.
The solo singer-turned-actor said he was spat out by Tinseltown after a string of false promises.
‘I lived in America for a year-and-a-half in Venice Beach. I kind of
hated the whole Hollywood scene. It’s a lot of bulls*** and a lot
people just chat a lot of nonsense,’ said Ryan, who starred in The
Heavy with Vinnie Jones and Sadie Frost.
‘It’s the whole, “I’m gonna make you a star, kid”,’ added the disgruntled 26-year-old.
Now writing his own scripts, Ryan said he could still compete for an
Oscar. ‘You can still make it in Hollywood by living in England,’ he
told Metro in an exclusive interview.
‘People are a lot more real over here and talk a lot more sense.’
And his plan may be working after he nailed a role as Kevin Spacey’s
nephew in a film slated for September.
‘I started off in a film with Oscar-winning actors and I’d like to keep that trend going,’ he said.
Despite his grumbles, Ryan is loving the film fame game.
‘I was actually in a bar and a lady was like, “I know you from
somewhere” and she said, “You are Rubin! [from The Heavy] I thought you
were great”.’
With new single Secret Love out now, Ryan says Blue fans will have
to wait for the band’s full comeback. ‘We’re talking at the moment and
we will figure it out. There’s just no set time,’ he explained.
And his notorious nightclub run-ins are in the past for the father of one-year-old Rayn Lee.
‘I love being a dad. It’s great. It’s a progression. I am really
happy I have a family and that I have moved forward,’ he gushed.
